Although bright lower seat piping is common, it is not correct for Chevelles. It is correct for the black Buick replacement bucket seat (code 178), the black Oldsmobile replacement bucket seat (code 970), and the black Pontiac replacement bucket seat (code 223). (Note: The Buick bucket seat shown is from a Buick sales brochure.)

* Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac (BOP) black aternative interiors were used due to a supplier strike in March. The specific BOP interiors were limtied to certain series of 1968 Chevelles. Those noted with the asterisk ( * ) indicate the series/model, and Concours option if applicable, that have been found for the final assembly plants as indicated although other body styles (convertibles and/or El Caminos) may use the same interior for the same series - I just have no documented proof. To date no Atlanta or Framingham assembly plant trim tags have surfaced with any of the BOP alternative codes. More.
